Wood and a colorful shell in a striking combo
The solid shell with contoured polypropylene seat and armrests provides excellent comfort and a soft, unified silhouette. The legs are made from sustainably sourced Jatoba hardwood, which gives the chair a warm and timeless expression. Captain’s woody chair suits any space, especially outdoors, thanks to the water drainage hole in the shell.

Polypropylene is resistant to stress corrosion. It may sound crazy that corrosion can also occur in plastics but it is true. This results in cracking, especially in areas where mechanical stress occurs in combination with a chemical attack. PP is a plastic that has very low susceptibility to this.
A white polypropylene surface may be more sensitive to stains than a black one. Polypropylene is quite a soft material and thus sensitive to scratches.
Structured powder coated zinced steel
Powder-coating is a technique of applying dry paint to a part. The powdered paint is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the object. The object is then placed in an oven and the powder particles melt and coalesce to form a continuous film.
'Choose white powder-coating, only when you are willing to clean the surface regularly. There is nothing uglier than a dirty piece of design furniture, right? Our glossy powder-coating is very maintenance-friendly, however.
Jatoba hardwood FSC 100%
Jatoba wood has exceptional qualities. The durability and stability is extremely high for long, thin slats, which was a key design issue for the whole Extempore range. After intensive collaboration with several authorities such as universities and nature & wild life organizations, Jatoba hardwood came out as the most stable and sustainable species that is widely available.
At first, Jatoba wood might give off its red color every time it comes into contact with water. Just like other types of wood, Jatoba will gradually become rougher and start to turn grey as a consequence of exposure to the sun and rain. Small cracks and crevices can also appear as part of this process. We strongly advise everyone to treat the furniture with our Wood Protector.
Felt is a textile that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibres together. Felt can be made of natural fibres such as wool or synthetic fibres such as acrylic.
Our wool felt is naturally water repellent. It can take a few drops, but should not be left outside.
