Design Studio K.K. designed the new L’Oréal offices in Tokyo, claiming to have drawn inspiration from the profound beauty of Japan. The design emphasizes collaboration and connection, offering employees a workspace that inspires and unites. Extremis’ Tools for Togetherness amplify this mission: their functionality, fun factor, and unique esthetics put colleagues in a different mood and let them shine. They create moments of relaxation and energy, while bringing teams closer together. They’re a boost for both body and (team) spirit. After all, these employees are worth it.
Beauty Valley: A creative hub where beauty comes to life
The headquarters of NIHON L’ORÉAL K.K. are located in Shinjuku, Japan. The office underwent a transformation and was renamed “Beauty Valley.” With the motto “Create The Beauty That Moves The World,” the redesign revolves around the concept of “En,” the Japanese word for “connections.” This space brings together customers, business partners, and countless employees to collectively create beauty.
The design reflects Japan’s natural beauty throughout the seasons, seen in the textures, finishes, and furniture that highlight traditional craftsmanship. Special attention has been given to lighting, acoustics, and authentic materials. But what does sustainability look like for a beauty brand like L’Oréal? Eyeshadows, foundations, and lipsticks have been repurposed into paints, lampshades, and tiles, giving them a second life.
Furthermore, the office meets strict LEED standards, focusing on sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste management. It also introduces a modern working concept: activity-based working (ABW). Hybrid working and diverse workstyles are supported by spaces tailored to specific tasks. Newly designed streaming rooms address digital needs, while open workspaces and meeting rooms foster collaboration and human connections.
With Tools for Togetherness spread throughout the office, collaboration becomes not only efficient, but genuinely enjoyable. Let’s hope this may be our humble contribution to their pursuit of beauty.
