At Extremis, our design philosophy hinges on creating 'Tools for Togetherness' that blend lifelong durability with environmental responsibility. We look beyond the surface of material quality to focus on a product’s entire lifecycle. By fusing strict quality control, minimal maintenance, and a design engineered for repairability, we ensure our furniture stands the test of time while minimizing its planetary footprint. The core pillars of our commitment to durability are outlined below.
Sustainability
When discussing durability, material quality is only part of the equation. We must look at the bigger picture: a product’s impact throughout its entire lifecycle and how its design influences its longevity. We must dare to ask the question: is a product useful and necessary?
Quality control
We ensure every product meets industry standards. Many of our products are tested according to TÜV standards, but our own internal quality control is at least as important.
Maintenance
'As little maintenance as possible’ is our core mantra when designing a Tool for Togetherness. However, every material and finish option comes with its own advantages and disadvantages.
Repairs
Ensuring a product’s durability also means preventing it from being discarded due to damage or erosion of a single small part. We design for repairability!
Warranty
Our quality promise, made solid: Backed by our 30 years of expertise with wood, fabrics, and metals, we offer a 5- to 15-year warranty on our most popular materials.
