AZ Maria Middelares in Ghent, a leading health centre, offers more than just medical care. Intelligent design allows patients, visitors and staff to enjoy a tranquil environment with plenty of natural light. The 64,800m² building was designed by Llox Architects and EGM Architects.

Accessible to all

Dozens of Hopper picnic tables have been installed on the hospital terrace. With their hot-dip galvanised steel legs and Iroko wood table top, they fit in perfectly with the hospital's modern aesthetic. The Hopper picnic tables create an inviting outdoor space where people can take a break from the pressures of everyday life. The fixed benches ensure that the space always remains neat and tidy, essential in a healthcare environment.

The terrace has become a place where design and functionality go hand in hand, and where everyone can feel at home.
