Our tireless search for purity and honesty has resulted in a color palette inspired by the furthest reaches of the globe. Starting from the elemental transparency of matte monochromes contrasted with brushed finishes in shades of white and grey… to the warmer tints and textures of terracotta and natural nuances in green… and the unmistakeably feminine inspiration of cool, sculptural tints…

Colorful environment

Extremis’ products shouldn't showboat. We want our furniture to attract people while blending seamlessly with any setting. Natural materials like wood or anodised aluminium do just that. But the right colors are equally important. Our color professionals have defined a color range in combination with our basic, pure materials. As our tools for togetherness are used both outdoors and indoors, it was quite a challenge to create a compact, yet complete color scheme. Our new range follows three different color concepts or attitudes, that you can discover while scrolling down this page. These concepts are based on the following aspects of color selection: preservation, maintenance, environment and climate.

Choose colors that stand the test of time
Our tools are designed to last a lifetime. That’s why our bigger products don’t contain any trendy color schemes. After all, you want a color that can stand the test of time, and that won’t feel dated immediately. Neutral colors are often combined with wood. The wood reveals its true personality after a while, as it starts to fade and turn silvery grey when exposed to sun and rain. Trendy colors can be added as a decorative element, for example as a cushion that can be replaced from time to time. You can explore them in our fabric range.

Choose colors that minimize maintenance
Furniture should require as little maintenance as possible. That’s why we design, choose materials and pick colors with the laziest person in mind. Within our range some colours require more maintenance than others. A white Hopper leg needs more cleaning than a black one. It's as simple as that. We added some earthy, natural colors to our range to offer more maintenance-friendly options.

Choose colors that pop out or blend in
When picking a product or a color, it should match the surrounding architecture and colour palette. The furniture can set the tone while silently fading into the background, outdoors and indoors.

Choose colors according to your climate
For a large part, color determines the temperature of a piece of furniture. Dark colors absorb the sunlight and heat up the surface. For some climates, this can be an advantage, but in warmer regions light colors will be more appropriate. A rainy and humid climate will also affect your choice of color – or at least, it should!

1. The concept essence

The essence of design, that's what this theme is all about. It is inspired by the architecture that protects us and forms a beacon of peace in the everyday bustle. Furniture is a form of microarchitecture, a warm cocoon where we spend time with friends and family.

Just like tools, the Extremis furniture performs in silence and humility: it brings people together, lets them relax and brings them closer to nature, while the self disappears into the background. The design, colors and materials are pure and timeless. But there is no doubt: it may not always be immediately visible, but this is indeed an advanced industrial design with a high-tech edge. This theme fits in the most diverse architectural styles.
The materials are fair and often uncovered; they show their naked construction and functional beauty. They also maintain their natural quality, such as weathered wood for example. Matte monochrome nuances are combined with brushed or slightly structured finishes. The colors are inspired by architectural materials such as concrete and on the element air. We have a range of white and gray tones, with cool and warm variations.

Our large pieces of furniture are always provided with timeless architectural shades that blend into the environment, by adding textiles in a strong primary color they become real eye-catchers. Smaller design pieces stand out with some brightly colored details. We love the mix of bright and neutral colors in our furniture and upholstery fabrics, down to the smallest cushion.

2. The concept of culture and nature

This theme combines modern design language with warm, traditional colors and textures. It is inspired by nature and southern culture. The result is a warm and elegant modernism that combines natural materials, such as tropical wood, with artisanal elements that reflect a rich past and yet fit perfectly into the contemporary world. The colors are based on terracotta and natural green tones. Both colors emphasize the social aspect of the Extremis furniture. They provide a cozy touch in any room and make it at least 5 degrees warmer.

The concept of culture and nature can be found in all our wooden products. The combination between wood with more neutral colors or structures remains a winner.

3. The concept touch

The concept of touch combines hard materials with subtle finishes and round shapes. The result is a beautiful and soft character that radiates comfort and elegance. The furniture becomes almost sculptural and the boundaries between inside and outside blur. Outside, these colors create an inner feeling and office spaces have a homely atmosphere. The solid and sturdy materials are treated with a matte powder coating that gives a soft, tangible shine. The colors radiate femininity when combined with nude shades and draw inspiration from the visual arts, giving them an intellectual, artistic touch.
